American actress Courteney Cox, globally recognized for her roles in the series "Friends" and the "Scream" franchise, is returning to her character Gale Weathers in the seventh film "Scream 7," as reported by Variety.
Cox will reprise her role as Gale, which she has portrayed in all previous installments. In the latest film, her character's life was endangered when she barely managed to survive an attack by a killer.
In September 2024, the actress stated that she had not yet signed a contract to participate in the seventh installment of the franchise and was awaiting the final version of the script.
Among other stars appearing in the project will be Mason Gooding and Neve Campbell, who will play the lead role. The plot will also introduce her character's daughter, portrayed by Isabel May from the series "1923."
The premiere of "Scream 7" is scheduled for February 27, 2026, with Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter of "Scream," "Scream 2," and "Scream 4," directing. The script for the seventh installment was written by Guy Busick, who previously worked on "Scream 5" and "Scream 6."
The cast of the film also includes McKenna Grace ("Good Girls"), Celeste O'Connor ("Ghostbusters: Afterlife"), and Ace Germann. The project is produced by James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein from Project X Entertainment.
