Sony Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for the new film "Karate Kid," subtitled "Legends." The premiere of the film is scheduled for May 30, 2025.
The story revolves around Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso, who join forces to help a teenager from Beijing succeed in a martial arts tournament.
The stars of the series — Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio — will reprise their iconic roles: Macchio will once again play Daniel LaRusso, while Chan will portray the kung fu master Mr. Han. This will mark the first collaborative on-screen appearance of the actors.
The role of the young student will be played by Ben Wang. The project will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle, known for his work on "Karate Kid 2" and "Hello, Future!," with the screenplay written by Rob Lieber, the creator of the series "The Goldbergs."
The "Karate Kid" film franchise includes five movies and the series "Cobra Kai." The first film was released in 1984, featuring Macchio as well. A decade later, the fourth film was released, starring Hilary Swank. In 2018, the premiere of "Karate Kid" took place, featuring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith in the lead roles.
