On December 19, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, while discussing a draft law to amend the Code of Offenses of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva spoke out about corruption among public officials.
“You inspect shopping centers, markets, and homes for fire safety. First, you take money for permits, then you impose fines. Entrepreneurs are already on the brink, and you propose such bills. Try to claim that you have no corrupt officials. The same thing happened in the tax service. He [former Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov — ed.] proposed to introduce ETTN [Electronic Cargo Transport Invoice], stole 3 billion himself, and left to applause, claiming he was innocent. The same is happening here,” the deputy stated.
Additionally, Surabaldiyeva expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the government is not creating favorable conditions for businesses, causing entrepreneurs to shift to the markets of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
“You offer no assistance to entrepreneurs. What have you done to support them? To develop, you must be creators. You say on television that we are developing, but television will never outshine the refrigerator,” the deputy added.
It is worth noting that on December 16, news broke about the resignation of the former head of government, Akylbek Japarov. A “living corridor” was formed for the official, and he was sent off with applause.
Later, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, signed a decree appointing Adylbek Kasymaliev as the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the presidential administration.
