In the first half of the day, Mr. Grossi met with the director of the Atomic Energy Agency, Azim Akhmedkhojaev, where they discussed prospects for collaboration and joint initiatives in the field of nuclear energy, emphasizing the importance of the safe and efficient use of nuclear technologies.
Additionally, the Director General visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, and the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center for Oncology and Radiology, where they explored the potential applications of nuclear technologies in medicine and scientific research.
At the conclusion of his visit on December 5, 2024, Rafael Grossi will participate in a conference in the historic city of Samarkand. The main theme of the event will be "Prospects for the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy for Sustainable Development of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: International and National Experience."
